Rhoda E. Burns
MD, FAAP
Dr. Burns grew up in Spanish Fort, AL, and graduated from Fairhope High School in 1976. She attended Birmingham Southern College where she was a member of the oldest and most prestigious academic honor society, Phi Beta Kappa. She went to medical school at the University of South Alabama where she chose to specialize in pediatrics. If you ask Dr. Burns why she chose pediatrics, she’ll answer “out of all the physicians I spent time with, pediatricians seemed to enjoy their jobs the most.” She has never regretted that decision.
Dr. Burns graduated first in her class and decided to venture north for her residency training. After three years at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, she was ready to return home to Baldwin County. She joined Eastern Shore Children’s Clinic in 1987 and has been here ever since. She is now seeing grandchildren of her former patients.
Dr. Burns is married to Bill Passmore and they live in Silverhill. Bill and Rhoda have two daughters, two son-in-laws, and a grandson. She enjoys spending time with her family, especially outdoors. She is involved at Trinity Presbyterian Church, and she enjoys cooking and reading.
